Leadership in Mental Health Programme
The Leadership in Mental Health Programme (LMHP) is a fellowship programme under the Government of Punjab's flagship Yudh Nashean Virudh - War Against Drugs initiative. The programme is implemented by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Mohali, in collaboration with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai.
LMHP builds a cadre of skilled mental health professionals who work alongside district administrations, de-addiction and rehabilitation centres, and OOAT (Outpatient Opioid Assisted Treatment) centres to strengthen Punjab's comprehensive response to substance use and addiction.
LMHP is a full-time fellowship of 24 months (2 years), based in Punjab. Selected candidates are placed in a district and are required to relocate to their assigned location.

How We Select
We follow a transparent process. Meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee shortlisting or selection. All applications will be assessed as per a pre-decided framework, and candidates will be shortlisted at each stage on the basis of their scores. Candidates are kept informed by email at each stage.
Mental Health Fellow - three stages
1. Application and screening. You complete the online application, including written and video responses. Applications are checked for eligibility and scored on a structured rubric.
2. Case study. Shortlisted candidates receive a short, role-focused case study to complete within a fixed window, submitted as a brief set of slides and a short video. This assesses problem-solving, structure, and originality.
3. Panel interview. Shortlisted candidates appear before an expert panel, including subject-matter and government-systems experts with an external panelist, for a final interview. This round is decisive.
Senior Associate - two stages
1. Application and screening. Online application with written responses, video responses, and a short written case study, scored on a structured rubric.
2. Panel interview. A focused interview before an expert panel assessing technical depth, programme-management thinking, and values. This round is decisive.
What we assess: motivation and leadership, stakeholder engagement, communication, technical knowledge and trauma awareness, problem-solving and programme thinking, and integrity and values. Video responses may be recorded in Hindi, Punjabi, or English. We assess your thinking, not your fluency in English.
Application Terms: Your Own Work, AI Use, and Plagiarism
By submitting an application, you agree to the following terms.
1. Original work. All responses, including written answers, videos, and the case study, must be entirely your own original work, reflecting your own experiences, reflections, and thinking.
2. Permitted assistance. You may use basic supportive tools (spelling and grammar checkers, accessibility tools such as screen readers) to a limited extent, provided they do not change the substance of your answers. Such assistance should not exceed a minor portion of any response.
3. Not permitted. You may not use Artificial Intelligence tools (including ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or similar) to generate your answers, essays, statement of purpose, videos, or case study, in whole or in substantial part. Copying from other candidates, published sources, or templates is also not permitted.
4. We check. All applications are screened for AI-generated content and plagiarism, using detection tools together with human review. Where AI-generated content or plagiarism is found above the acceptable threshold, the application will be treated as not meeting criteria and may be withdrawn or disqualified at any stage of the process.
5. Fair review. Detection results are treated as one signal and are reviewed by a person alongside your video and overall submission. Using a tool only to improve the language of a response you wrote yourself is not, by itself, a disqualification. We assess the substance and authenticity of your work.
6. Video authenticity. You must appear on camera and answer in your own words, speaking spontaneously rather than reading from a script. It's fine to feel nervous, and someone else can help you with the camera, what matters is that the thinking and the words are genuinely yours, not memorised or copied from AI-generated text.
7. Declaration. At submission you will be asked to declare that the information you have provided is true, that your responses are your own original work, and that you have not used AI tools to generate them. A false declaration may lead to disqualification at any stage, including after selection.
