Dr.Ruchi Singh is Assistant Professor in Centre for Labor Studies, School of Management and Labor Studies at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, (TISS) Mumbai, India. She holds a PhD from School of Economics, Central University of Hyderabad, India and M.Phil from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay, India. She has done her Post-Doctorate from Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore. Before joining TISS, Mumbai she has worked as Post Doctoral Researcher at IIM-B, and has worked as Assistant Professor at Prin.L.N.Welingkar Institute of Managment, Development & Research, Mumbai and Bengaluru for roughly 4 and half years.
She has published a book “Exodus of Men from Rural Uttar Pradesh,” published by Transnational Press London, United Kingdom recently.She has published range of papers in journal of good repute in migration studies and related field, including Migration Letters, Remittances Review, Migration Information Source etc. She has also contributed various chapters in many edited books published by reputed publisher such as Taylor and Francis, Edward Elgar etc. She has presented research papers at various national and international forum such as in Oxford University, United kingdom ,Harokopio univeristy , Athens Greece, European University Institute (EUI), Florence, Italy etc. She has also been granted and completed (Project Co-Investigator) IMPRESS-ICSSR major project on Rural –Urban Migration of INR 1.5 million (15 lakhs) in 2021. She is an executive member of Global Research Forum on Diaspora and Transnationalism (GRFDT) and is currently holding the position of State President-Karnataka in Women's Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry, (WICCI).
She has been invited many times as a Resource person/Expert/Session chair at various prestigious institutes and government meetings such as University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad, PES University, Bangalore,Centre for Development Studies, Hyderabad, Institute of Eminence(BHU),Central Univrsity of Gujarat, IGNOU, Delhi, IIPS Mumbai, Somaiya Institute of Management, Loyola College Chennai ,Building and Wood Workers International (BWI), Switzerland etc.She has also been organising commitee member and has chaired numerous sessions in various national and international conferences and workshops such as conference organised by Centre for Research on North America (CISAN UNAM) Mexico, Migrant Forum in Asia, Manilla Philippines & GRFDT Forum, New Delhi, Committee member (Asia Region- Transnational Scientific Committee) in largest global sholarly conference on migration “The Migration Conference, hosted by the Faculty of Law, Economic and Social Sciences Agdal of Mohammad V University, Rabat, Morocco and organised by AMERM (l’Association Marocaine d’Etudes et de Recherches sur les Migrations) and IBS (International Business School, UK), confernces on Diversity organised by (TISS), Mumbai, Conferenec organised by School of Management, Central University of Hyderabad, School of Diaspora Studies, Gujarat, Guest lectures at Somaiya Institute of Management , Somiaya University Mumbai, Sarla Modi School of Economics, NMIMS, Mumbai, India etc.
She has conducted numeorus MDP sessions for Infosys and have taught diverse courses such as Economics, Research Methods, Consumer Behaviour, Rural Management etc.
She is very fond of travelling and has visted roughoy 30 countries so far across the globe and is also involved in various social initiatives.
Facilitated as "Springer Nature Research Integrity in Science & Education (RISE) Young Women Researcher (Her Research, Our Future)" award in an event—Springer Nature India Research Tour 2024 on 1st October 2024 held at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai.
