Dr. Ravinder Dhiman works as an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Water Policy and Governance at the School of Habitat Studies (SoHS), Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, India.
Recently, he has been associated with Jamsetji Tata School of Disaster Studies (JTSDS), TISS, from July 2020 - Dec 2024 and chaired the Centre for GeoInformatics at JTSDS from July 2021 - Dec 2024.
He was awarded Ph.D. in Urban Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB). He is the recipient of the prestigious award of IIT Bombay, 'Excellence in Ph.D. Research Award' for years 2018-2020 for his exemplary research work. He has also worked as a senior researcher at CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography, Goa, India. He did his M.Tech. in Energy and Environmental Management.
His research interests are Urban Water Systems and Disaster Discourse, Science-policy instruments for resource management, Integrated Coastal Management, Integrated geospatial solutions, Decision Science and Systems, and Urban planning. Dr. Dhiman has published research articles in peer-reviewed international journals and conferences. He also has consultancy project experience in applications of spatial science for watershed management, shoreline change analysis, Technology for Disaster Management, and coastal processes along the Indian coast.
