Dr Narendra Kakade, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Public Health, School of Health Systems Studies (SHSS), TISS, Mumbai. He has been at the Centre since 2010 and has been engaged in teaching various courses offered at SHSS. He has completed his Master's from TISS in Social Work with specialization in Urban and Rural Communities. He obtained his M. Phil & Ph. D. in Social Medicine and Community Health from JNU, New Delhi. Soon after, he worked as a faculty 3 years at the Department of Social Work, SNDT Women's University, Mumbai. He has over 18 years of teaching experience and over 20 years of research experience. Being a public health expert, he is passionate about some of its core areas such as Social Epidemiology, Cultural Epidemiology, Epidemiology, Social Determinants of Health, Sociology of Medicine, Medical Profession, Urban and Rural Health, Tribal Health, Health of Marginalized communities, Access, availability, and Utilization of Health services, Health systems, etc. some of his major research work includes, Health and nutritional status of adolescent girls of Ashram Schools, Morbidity and treatment seeking behavior of curative care, Road traffic injuries and health system response, Maternal and Child health services among tribal, Evaluation of a project on community action on nutrition, Diagnosis and treatment practices among chest physicians for MDR TB and Review of Menstrual management among the adolescent girls in schools etc.
