I am an Assistant Professor of Disaster Studies at Tata Institute of Social Sciences. I am interested in disaster economics, risk economics, development planning, political economy of development , water governance and history of disasters. My research examines the relationship between state and society, welfare models and its contemporary challenges, disaster loss and its impacts on the economy more specifically the local economy and social and political movements around development and risk . I hold a PhD in Economics from University of Kerala , on the topic ‘Foreign Aid and Institutional Changes: An enquiry into the changing mode of water sector Governance in Kerala. . I am supervising six PhD Students on the topics, a) Tranboundary disaster risk reduction between India and Nepal, b) Social Security and Disaster Risk Management, c) Disaster and Fatality: An Economic analysis, d) Urban Environmental Risk Governance, e) Disaster and Exclusion, and f) Flood risk management and institutional changes.
