Dr. Saigita Chitturu has over twenty years of work experience in teaching, training, research & development, and liaisoning work. She is a trained social worker from M.S.S. College, Nagpur, with criminology and correctional administration as her specialization. Before joining TISS, she worked with Tata Memorial Hospital, Aga Khan Educational Service, India, & Sophia Women's Studies Centre, Sophia College, Mumbai.
She joined TISS as a faculty member in the Training Orientation & Research Department, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, in 2006. She organized and trained several NSS Programme Officers of Maharashtra and Goa. Since 2011, she has been with the Centre for Lifelong Learning, TISS.
She has developed many programs and courses, like the Diploma in 'Youth Development and Social Change', Diploma programme in Youth Leadership and Social Change with exit at the Certificate Level- It is designed in Open and Distance Learning Mode—the Certificate in Participatory Training Methodology for Social Development, and Perspectives in Lifelong Learning for the MPhil degree at TISS.
She has also developed several compendia on youth issues, leadership, identity, family, crime, and training methodology for TISS and for NYKS, as well as the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
She received a gold medal from Shivaji Science College during her undergraduate studies at Nagpur University.
She received the "Bharat Vikas Award" for her contribution to the field of youth leadership from the Institute of Self-Reliance, Bhubaneswar.
She received the "Educator Excellence Award, 2020" from Vedant Foundation, Rajkot, for her contribution to education and teaching.
She received the "Distinguished Achievement Award' as part of the Global Academic Excellence Award 2021 by SSM Trust, Chennai.
She also received the "Global Sustainable Award 2025" by ARC, Haryana
She was featured in a podcast on the TATA Sky Plus channel, discussing intergenerational bonds, on 27 December 2025
She is the program coordinator of two academic programs at TISS.
