
International Yoga Day 2025 at TISS Tuljapur Campus
The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Tuljapur Campus celebrated International Yoga Day 2025 with great enthusiasm and participation this morning.
The programme began with a welcome address by Mr. Ganesh Chadre, Yoga Day Coordinator, who emphasized the social and personal health benefits of yoga practice. On this occasion, he stated that "Yoga is an ancient tradition of India, dating back thousands of years. Yoga is not just physical exercise; it is a holistic lifestyle that brings balance to the mind, body, and soul."
The global celebration of International Yoga Day is a result of the visionary leadership, commitment, and inspirational efforts of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. Hence, on this occasion, TISS Tuljapur Campus expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister for his historic contribution and tireless efforts towards the global recognition of yoga.
Prof. Bal Rakshase, Campus Director, shared a message explaining the significance of this year’s theme, “Yoga Sangam”. He stated that “Yoga is not merely a concept, but a confluence of society, health, culture, and thoughts.” He further emphasized the need for social harmony by uniting citizens of different castes, religions, languages, and states to preserve national unity. To adopt a healthy lifestyle, he said, there is a strong need to raise awareness about the physical and mental benefits of yoga.
He stressed that yoga is India’s gift to humanity and an equally beneficial health practice for all – children, adults, women, men, urban and rural populations alike, and should be incorporated into our daily lives.
On this occasion, a live broadcast of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address was arranged, in which he highlighted the global impact of yoga and extended greetings on Yoga Day.
Following this, Yoga Trainer Mr. Ranjit Rokde conducted a yoga session demonstrating various asanas, focusing on mental peace, physical flexibility, and concentration.
Administrative Officer Mr. Devidas Kadam stated that yoga plays a vital role in enhancing staff efficiency and reducing work-related stress, and announced that regular workshops would be organized in the future. He also extended best wishes on Yoga Day to all attendees.
After the yoga session, a special workshop titled “Stress Management: Pathways to Mindfulness” was conducted as part of the International Yoga Day celebrations.
Counselor Mrs. Sumita Bhadrige guided the participants in-depth on stress regulation, self-reflection, and mental well-being.
Social worker Mr. Anand Bhalerao delivered the vote of thanks. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, various departments, the Field Action Team, students, staff, and volunteers of TISS Tuljapur Campus.
