The Centre for Education Innovation and Action Research is organising the symposium  LeaP 2019, Learners as Producers of ICT artefacts to be held on the 1st and 2nd of July, 2019 at The India International Centre, New Delhi.

This symposium aims to celebrate eight years of learning, research and achievement of the initiative Integrated approach to Technology in Education (ITE), an initiative of Tata Trusts, resourced by Centre for Education Innovation & Action Research at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. The very ethos of ITE is students from the marginalized sections serve as creators or producers of ICT artefacts and teachers, mostly from the government schools, as designers of learning activities, meaningfully integrating ICT in curriculum and pedagogy. The symposium would also draw on learning and achievements of other ICT interventions that share similar ethos of ICT use in education, learners as producers and not merely consumers of ICT resources. This national symposium will culminate ICT in Education experiences from about 10 states mostly rural and other marginalized contexts.

The symposium will offer a platform through demonstrations, exhibition, panels and discussions for students, teachers, educators, academicians, foundations and policy makers to share their insights, achievements and challenges in using ICT in the context of Learners as Producers (LeaP). As there are host of ICT interventions in the country that focuses on ICT as a delivery tool, LeaP 2019 aims to share and build perspectives around the constructivist approach in the area of ICT in education.

ICT enabled exemplars from the field showcasing digital agency, knowledge deepening and construction, authentic learning for learners, Community of Practice groups, and Continuous Professional Development opportunities for teachers will be highlighted. Besides teaching and learning, the states where ICT interventions are following the LeaP approach will discuss their experiences to understand the strategies, challenges and opportunities of scale and sustainability in that geography.
