Doing Health in Villages: A Residential Community Health Practice Lab
Organised by Pragati - Integrated Rural Health and Development Project, a Field Action Project of the School of Social Work, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai
A five-day residential practice lab for students and early-career professionals working in rural and tribal health contexts. The programme offers an immersive, supervised field-learning experience that bridges theory and practice through long-term community engagement.
Anchored in Pragati’s four decades of work with the tribal population in Aghai, Shahpur (Thane district), the workshop focuses on participatory methods, community mobilisation, and ethnographic sensibilities, helping participants understand how health is practiced in everyday village life.
Who should attend: Postgraduate students, early-career NGO and CSR professionals, monitoring & evaluation staff, and researchers seeking applied field-based skills.
Format: 5-day residential | 2.5 days at TISS Mumbai + 2.5 days in Aghai, Shahpur
Fee: ₹25,000 (inclusive of food and accommodation; travel costs borne by participants)
