Venue: Old Conference Hall, TISS Mumbai
It has been 14 years since the Indian Ocean Tsunami, but questions regarding practices in disaster relief and rehabilitation, sensitive to specific geographies and cultural contexts, remain. With a focus on the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, JTSDS is organising a Roundtable to examine key questions in post-disaster recovery and development such as:
1. What role did the recovery process play in the development of the islands?
2. How did the power relations shift?
3. Who has benefited more/less from these developments?
4. What interventions promoted sustainability and long- term development?
A multi-sectoral group of experts will present their experience and evidence, and these discussions will enrich disaster discourse and future response processes, especially in eco-fragile regions.
Registration Fees
Rs. 300 for TISS Students
Rs. 1,000 for other participants.
