We live in uncertain times. The idea of business continuity management (BCM) is the creation of a strategy through the recognition of threats and risks facing a company, with an eye to ensure that personnel and assets are protected and able to function in the event of a disaster. Risk Management is gaining greater attention and recognition within Corporates and Boards are keen to ensure that the organizations are risk protected and have a management plan in place. Globally, companies are now looking to employ professionals who can effectively manage diverse operational risks, so that their employees, systems and business operations are not impacted. However, there is acute shortage of well honed, professionally knowledgeable people who can manage these specialist functions.

Objectives of the Workshop:

• To introduce fundamentals of Business Continuity Management to participants.
• To prepare participants to manage crisis situations within organizations by considering various factors at play.
• To enable participants to examine and understand career paths in BCM in industry/ corporates.

Key Resource Person

Rohit Verma is General Manager, IBM India Pvt Ltd, heading the Resiliency Services Delivery for West, managing a team of 12 Project Managers. He has been Country Head for Business Continuity Management in Deutsche Bank (South Asia – India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka) and Barclays Bank, India. He is specialised in Risk Management domains of Business Continuity, IT Disaster Recovery, Operations Risk Management, Corporate Security, Health and Safety.

Having over 24 years of industry experience, of which 14 were spent in designing, implementing enterprise- wide BCM and IT DR Governance Frameworks, covering BCM Life Cycle, IT Disaster Recovery, Work Area Recovery, Crisis Management, Contingency Planning, Regulatory Reporting, Critical Vendors’ BCM Management, BCM Education and Awareness. He has managed over 200 internal and external incidents impacting Barclays / Deutsche Bank, across all 3 countries.

Author of ‘Emergency Awareness Handbook’ which deals with actions to be taken before and during crisis events, Mr Verma was a Jury member in the first ever Business Continuity Institute (UK) and Deloitte BCM Awards, India, 2009. He has been a speaker at many industry forums on Risk Management and BCM.
