The Centre for Lifelong Learning (CLL-SSW), School of Social Work, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai Campus, proudly hosted the UMANG Fellowship Certification Ceremony 2026 on 27 June 2026 at the Prof. Armaity S. Desai Conference Hall, TISS Mumbai.
The ceremony marked the successful completion of the UMANG Fellowship Programme by nearly 200 Fellows—school teachers from across the country—who were awarded fellowship certificates in recognition of their commitment, dedication and learning. Through the programme, the Fellows have strengthened their capacity to promote social-emotional learning, mental health and wellbeing in educational settings, contributing to the wellbeing of both teachers and students.
We were pleased to welcome Prof. Obijiofor Aginam (Director, UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP)) as the keynote speaker. Joining us virtually, he congratulated the Fellows and highlighted the vital role of educators in fostering inclusive, compassionate and resilient learning communities.
The fellowship certificates were presented by Prof. Bipin Jojo (Dean, School of Social Work, Mumbai Campus; Dean, Equal Opportunity Centre; and Project Director, UMANG Project). The programme was led by Dr. Lata Das and Ms. Anju Joy (Project Directors, UMANG Project), whose vision, leadership and unwavering commitment have been central to the successful implementation of the UMANG Fellowship Programme.
The ceremony celebrated the achievements of the Fellows while reaffirming TISS's commitment to advancing inclusive education, lifelong learning and educator capacity building through innovative fellowship initiatives.
Congratulations to all the UMANG Fellows. We wish you every success as you continue to create nurturing, emotionally safe and transformative learning environments for children and young people.
