The Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Guwahati Off-Campus successfully conducted its 12th Convocation at the Zubeen Garg Auditorium, Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU), Guwahati. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Soumitra Saikia, Judge, Gauhati High Court, was the Chief Guest at the Convocation, which was presided over by the TISS Chancellor, Prof. D.P. Singh.

At this Convocation, a total of 116 students and scholars were awarded their degrees, including PhD scholars, postgraduate and undergraduate students. Twenty-seven students were awarded medals and shields for their academic excellence, with Mr. Jyotirmoy Jishnu (Master of Arts in Social Work – Livelihood and Social Entrepreneurship) receiving the first-ever Chancellor’s Gold Medal for the Guwahati Off-Campus.

The Convocation ceremony brought together distinguished dignitaries including TISS Vice Chancellor Prof. Badri Narayan Tiwari, Dr. Narendra Mishra (Officiating Registrar), Prof. Sunil Damodaran Santha (Dean, Academic Affairs), and eminent representatives from KKHSOU, OKD Institute of Social Change and Development (OKDISCD), ICSSR-NERC, along with Dr. Keshav Kumar, IPS (Retd.), Advisor to the Government of Assam (Home and Political Affairs).

In his Convocation Address, Justice Soumitra Saikia emphasised constitutional values, social justice, and the importance of informed innovation rooted in indigenous wisdom. Addressing the graduating students, he urged them to uphold the ideals of justice, equality and fraternity, while recognising the significance of TISS Guwahati in advancing higher education and research in Northeast India.

In his Presidential Address, Chancellor Prof. D.P. Singh reflected on TISS’s 90-year legacy and encouraged graduates to embody integrity, trust and public purpose aligned with the vision of NEP 2020 and Viksit Bharat@2047. TISS Vice Chancellor Prof. Badri Narayan Tiwari reaffirmed the Institute’s strategic role in advancing Atmanirbhar Bharat through the TISS Bharat and TISS Global initiatives.

Prof. Jagannath Ambagudia (Campus Director, TISS, Guwahati Off-Campus) presented the Annual Report, highlighting the campus’s growing national recognition, including its acknowledgement by the Parliamentary Standing Committee as a prospective marquee institution for Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities in Northeast India.
