TISS seeks to advance the knowledge base on tobacco use, control, policies, and programmes in India through scientific and in-depth research using the wealth of data available through the Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS), India. It aims to encourage and support researchers to carry out research using the GATS 2 India data, and write scientific publishable papers. In this endeavour, TISS is working with academic institutions and organizations involved in tobacco-related research and plans to organize workshops engaging resource persons who would provide suggestions to improve the papers and mentors who would work more closely extending their help and monitor the progress made. Around fifteen participants will present the research paper. The discussions are expected to substantially assist the participants in finalizing the research objectives, data handling, analysis, and preparing the manuscript for publication.
