Mission Ankur, Madhya Pradesh is the state’s mission to strengthen Foundational Literacy and Numeracy.

The intended Impact of the project is :

  • Students build a strong foundation for learning, setting them up for success in further education, work, and life
  • A self-sustaining system where all stakeholders have the opportunity, motivation, and ability to contribute to improved FLN educational outcomes for children

 

This is a collaboration with the State Education Departments to bring reform by implementing large-scale system-led projects with the goal of improving student learning outcomes and support the State to design and implement an integrated program that encompasses multiple critical

aspects of a reform process ranging from building an effective classroom pedagogy to working with the state to build salience and necessary state capacity to deliver FLN at scale, while also strengthening governance and other key enablers that are critical for the reform.

 

CSF along with a coalition of partners including The Education Alliance, Vikramshila for numeracy and Room To Read for literacy, have entered into a long-term engagement (5 years) with the Education Department of Madhya Pradesh for system reform and has set up a Project Management Unit (PMU) to deliver it.

 

As part of the roll out plan , Fellows at each district to anchor the District level PMU for the program who will work closely with the district team to facilitate and monitor roll out of various program linked initiatives.

 

Tata Institute of Social Sciences supports the process of hiring the above mentioned fellows, build capacity for their intended role and mentor them through the programme period.

 

Overall, the roles and responsibilities of TISS can be categorized into the following three categories:

  1. Hiring and retention of top talent as NIPUN Professionals:

    • Manage the talent acquisition and timely retention and replacement of 52 young fellows for the state, especially during the initial phase of hiring.

    • Define initial screening systems and processes; conduct initial rounds of screening for identifying the top talent.

    • Further refine the application pool for final selection by the state-level committee consisting of the Mission Ankur team, district magistrates, and academic institute.

    • Manage payroll
