Sandhya Limaye, Ph.D. is a Professor and Chair of the Centre for Disability Studies and Action, School of Social Work, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. As an Erasmus Mundus, Nehru-Fulbright, and Rockefeller fellow, she presented the alternate report on women with disability in India at the UN, Geneva, and is involved in C 20 activities for Diversity, Equity, and Disability groups in India.

Project Director of iCBR Project (Inclusive Community Based Rehabilitation)
(1) at Karjat Block, Dt. Raigad, Maharashtra state, India for the period of 2014-16, sponsored by IDBI Bank, Mumbai. Focus on rural disabled population on health, education, livelihood, capacity building and advocacy.
(2) Started same iCBR in M ward, Mumbai since 2016 to work with disabled population in slum area
The objectives of the iCBR project include:
To enhance the access to educational services and schemes to drop out and never enrolled children with disabilities and ensure inclusion and effective learning with other non-disabled peers. To provide career guidance, vocational counselling and skill training to youth with disabilities to initiate income generation and sources of livelihood through self or open employment. To provide detailed information and knowledge about their rights, various facilities and schemes available for them through various government programmes and making them aware about the process and requirements while accessing those services and schemes and need based advocacy. To ensure inclusion and integration of people with disabilities in village community at various spheres of life by providing opportunities of proper medical care, inclusive education, vocational training and livelihood support within the community
Inclusive Community based Rehabilitation (iCBR) project has built good rapport with the community people, Government authorities and Nongovernmental organizations and gained community acceptance to work with them in their villages on their identified issues in the broad domains of Health care, Inclusive Education and Sustainable Livelihood and conducted various workshops for different stakeholders. In Mumbai M ward, same works have been done in collaboration with Pratham Vidya Vardhini, Social Welfare Department, SSA. Identification of people with disabilities including children with disabilities, pension scheme, concession , disability certificate, disability awareness programme by conducting challenging challenges programme, workshop on livelihood for people with disabilities in Vashi Naka.
