Dr Byasa Moharana is an Assistant Professor at the Tuljapur Campus. He is teaching various courses in BA, MA and PhD Programmes- mostly papers related to the discipline of Sociology and Anthropology. At present, he is the Programme Coordinator of BASS and PhD programmes.
Before joining TISS, he taught at the National Law University, Cuttack, Odisha (2009-2011).
In addition to teaching, he also runs two schemes for educating children with low cultural, social and economic capital. One scheme is named Savitri Dhara (Project Savitri), as he derives inspiration from the revolutionary leader from Maharashtra- Savitribai Phule. This project is meant for the children of the employees of TISS, Tuljapur, who go to government schools for formal education. With the help of the student volunteers on campus, he runs a library for these children that provides them with high-quality education in English and mathematics. The children also borrow books for reading at home.
The other scheme is also to help students from subaltern backgrounds who enrol in TISS but struggle with English and other vocational skills. Again, through the help of the student volunteers, he runs the "peer-learning" programme for these students, who gain the skills and confidence to navigate the world of academia successfully
