International Short-Term Skill Training Programme on “Women Health, Care Giving, and Quality Health Care”


Tata Institute of Social Sciences is delighted to welcome 12 participants from the Bhutan Nun Foundation for an International Short-Term Skill Training Program on “Women Health, Care Giving, and Quality Health Care”. The programme kicked off on 25 July 2024, with Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shankar Das gracing the occasion and interacting with the participants. Prof. Das emphasised the crucial role of frontline health workers in ensuring the well-being of communities during the inauguration programme. Prof. Madhushree Sekher, Chairperson of OIA was also present during the programme and acknowledged the support of the Embassy of India in Thimpu, Bhutan in designing and implementing this programme.

The Bhutan Nuns Foundation (BNF) is a charitable organization providing support and resources for girls and women living in both nunneries and their surrounding communities throughout Bhutan. The BNF is under the patronage of Her Majesty the Queen Mother Ashi Tshering Yangdoen Wangchuck.This programme is conducted by the Office for International Affairs in collaboration with the India Bhutan Foundation and the Embassy of India, Thimpu, Bhutan. The aim of this programme is to provide the participants with basic healthcare training to meet the community’s health needs and provide accessible, acceptable, equitable, affordable, and quality healthcare. The programme is taking place from 25 July to 4 August 2024 at TISS, Mumbai Campus.

India and Bhutan share a close and historically strong friendship characterized by mutual respect, trust, and cooperation and we are excited to conduct this programme here at TISS. We wish the participants a wonderful learning experience during their stay here.
