The fieldwork component of MRPG is based on the unique model of ‘Regulatory Clinics’ which are an integral part of the first and second-semester curriculum. These clinics are designed to provide an opportunity for first-year students to visit regulatory agencies and participate in live regulatory processes such as regulatory hearings. This also involves understanding street-level regulatory issues and interactions with citizens to understand their opinions and perspectives on various regulatory problems. The second-year students are offered opportunities for substantive contribution in the form of analysis and intervention in a regulatory process which often require field exposure in the relevant area and interaction with experts and regulatory professionals in an area.

In addition to the regulatory clinics, the mandatory summer internship with professional organizations (government or non-government) engaged in addressing regulatory issues in various domains offers another avenue for students to deepen their field engagement. Students intern at a diverse set of organizations including various statutory regulatory bodies (for example, Reserve Bank of India, Competition Commission of India, Central Electricity Regulatory Commission, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India), self-regulatory organizations (ASCI), policy think tanks (NITI Aayog), public or private financial Institutions (NABARD, various micro-finance institutions), consultancy firms (KPMG), non-governmental organizations including research and advocacy organizations (Prayas, PRS Legislative Research, CUTS International).
