TISS Director Prof. Shalini Bharath inaugurated the Crystal Jubilee Celebrations of the School of Habitat Studies and launched the prestigious JJM Chair on 9 March 2023.

Dr. Himanshu Kulkarni gave the keynote address at the JJM Chair launch event in the presence of Prof. Amita Bhide, the Chair.

Dean of the School Prof. Manjula Bharathy presented the successful trajectory of the School; Dy Director, Prof. Bino Paul released the school booklet A salute to the Past, A Claim to the Future; Dean, Academics Prof. P.K.Shajahan released the School Magazine Habit@, and five Deans, across the Schools, felicitated the School.

The School felicitated seven eminent persons- Prof. S. Parasuraman who envisioned the School; Prof. Subodh Wagle and Prof. Amita Bhide who shaped the School; and Prof.T. Jayaraman, Prof. Ashok Pendse, Prof. Himanshu Kulkarni, and Ms. Smita Waingankar who gave critical contributions to the four Centres of the School.

Three round-table conferences, sessions on Voices of Hope from the Ph.D. and Master's alumni, and experience-sharing sessions were the other important events of the Crystal Jubilee Celebrations that lasted for two days.

Voices of future synergies came from Dr. Himanshu Burte, IIT, Mumbai, and Dr.Bejoy Thomas, ISER.

The event concluded with a stimulating valedictory speech by Dr. Ravi Chopra, Director of People's Science Institute, Dehradun.
