Tata Institute of Social Sciences, India in collaboration with the University of Sussex, UK has taken up a comparative study of initial teacher education in select BRICS countries and the UK. The research has been funded by a small grant from the Government of India as part of its Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC) and UKIERI focused on unpacking the form and nature of initial teacher education programmes and their contribution towards social justice and inclusive education. A draft monograph based on the study was discussed in an earlier virtual symposium held at the University of Sussex on 13 & 14 December, 2021. The planned symposium seeks to take such deliberations further.
