Many of us use ‘scales’ of different types in our research to measure, for example, attitudes, gender equality, self-esteem, life satisfaction or quality of life.
CoEAY - The Centre of Excellence on Adolescents and Youth invites you to register for a 2-day training workshop on the construction of ‘Scales’ with special focus on doing research with adolescents and youth.
The two-day workshop will cover the following topics:
DAY 1 - Understanding psychometric measures and tools; example - 'Attitude Scale'
DAY 2 - Demonstration of scale construction - practical exercise
Faculty: The workshop will be led by Dr. Nandita Bhan an expert on gender and psychometrics. She is currently with EMERGE, a Delhi based program of the Center on Gender Equity and Health, University of California, San Diego. She will be joined by TISS faculty Dr. Hemal Shroff and Dr. Chetna Duggal on Day 2.
Participants: The course is open to faculty, doctoral scholars, and NGO fucntionaries interested in doing research on, or working with adolescents and youth. Those currently researching or working on adolescent and young people’s issues will be given preference. Knowledge of basic statistics and quantitative research would be an advantage.
Registration: There is no registration fee for the workshop. Accommodation at the TISS Guest House will be provided to a limited number of eligible out-station participants, on a first-come-first-served basis. Participants are required to arrange their own outstation and local travel. Food and refreshments will be arranged at the venue during the workshop.
