Training on Practicing Ethics in Research on Adolescents

CoEAY – The Centre of Excellence on Adolescents and Youth invites you to register for a 2.5-day training workshop on ethics in research, with a focus on adolescents.

The course will cover an introduction to the special situation and status of adolescents, an understanding of ethics, and ethical considerations in researching on adolescents. It will include concerns in designing research on adolescents and addressing issues of consent, privacy and confidentiality, and decision-making. Case studies and practical examples will be used extensively, to allow de-construction of concepts and norms. Participants will develop a deeper understanding of how ethics can be practiced in diverse and challenging socio-cultural contexts where adolescents are viewed through different perspectives.

Faculty: The main faculty, Dr.Sunita Bandewar, is an expert on ethics and bio-ethics with international experience, including on training for ethics in Social Science research.

Participants: The course is open to faculty, doctoral scholars and NGO functionaries interested in doing research with adolescents. Those currently researching on adolescent issues will be given preference.

Fees: There is no registration fee. Accommodation at the TISS Guest House will be provided to a limited number of eligible out-station participants, on a first-come-first-served basis. Participants are required to arrange their own outstation and local travel. Food and refreshments will be arranged at the venue.
