About The Workshop:
The topic of the workshop will be 'Music Therapy'. The emphasis will be on using music therapy to mediate, assist and enhance the capabilities of differently abled children, adolescents and senior citizens. The music used to demonstrate, will be from a wide genre of Western Music, ranging from classical to modern jazz / popular music. The issues addressed will include 1) autism, downs syndrome, mental retardation and slow learners 2) dyslexia and learning disabilities 3) Visual and hearing impairment and physical challenges 4) Dementia and Alzheimer
About the Resource Person
Ms. Vera Tata Choksey has done L.L.B from Government Law College, University of Mumbai. She did her course in music from Royal College of Music, London and Trinity College of Music, London . Ms. Vera teaches both piano and western classical music appreciation classes. In the past, she has worked at The S.P.J Sadhana School for the mentally challenged and at Helen Keller Institute for the hearing and visually unpaired using music therapy. Presently, she conducts private therapy sessions with children with Traumatic Brain injury. Ms. Vera is also involved in Philanthropic & Social Work and serves as trustee on various Tata Trusts Boards.
