As part of M.S. GORE CENTENARY COLLOQUIUM, THE SCHOOL OF DEVELOPMENT STUDIES, TATA INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL SCIENCES (MUMBAI), an initiative by the Center of Public Policy, Habitat and Human Development, School of Development Studies, to engage with policy research, advocacy, and leadership in public service; we are pleased to invite you to the talk on "PEOPLE TO PEOPLE LINKS AND FOREIGN POLICY" by Muktesh K Pardeshi, High Commissioner of India to New Zealand.

PROF. M.S. GORE (August 15, 1921 - November 19, 2010) was a celebrated social scientist, academic, and writer. He was an eminent alumnus and former director of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, former chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University, and former vice-chancellor of Mumbai University. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan, the country's third-highest civilian honor, for his outstanding contribution to social sciences. His contribution to social work and academia has left a lasting impression on generations of researchers. Beginning in 2013, the M.S. Gore Policy Colloquium Series is dedicated to the life and pioneering work of Prof. M.S. Gore. The Colloquium Committee is mentored by Prof. Ashwani Kumar, Dean, School of Development Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Mumbai).

Guest for this talk, SHRI MUKTESH K. PARDESHI is a senior diplomat with over 30 years of experience. Sir joined his ongoing assignment as the High Commissioner of India to New Zealand in 2019. He is concurrently accredited as High Commissioner of India to Samoa, Niue, Vanuatu, and the Cook Islands. From 2016 to 2019, he was India's Ambassador to Mexico. During his tenure, the India-Mexico 'Privileged Partnership' grew by 75% in three years. He was named Ambassador of the Year 2018 for his contributions by the Mexican diplomatic journal El Mundo Internacional. His transformation of Passport services in India (from 6 to 12 million in 2010-15) has been widely praised. As the Mission Leaderof the Passport Seva Project, he received numerous awards, including the prestigious National Award on e-Governance (Gold) 2014-15 and Web Ratna (Platinum) Award 2014.

The talk will be moderated by PROF ASHWANI KUMAR, Dean, School of Development Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Mumbai), and the Discussant for the talk will be PROF MADHUSHREE SHEKHAR, Chairperson, Office of International Affairs (OIA).

The event is organized in collaboration with the SDS RESEARCH SCHOLARS FORUM (SDSRSF) of the School of Development Studies.
