TISS seeks to advance the knowledge base on tobacco use, control, policies, and programmes in India through scientific and in-depth research using the wealth of data available through the Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS), India. It aims to encourage and support researchers to carry out research using the GATS 2 India data, and write scientific publishable papers. In this endeavour, TISS will work with academic institutions and organizations involved in tobacco-related research and plans to organize three workshops engaging resource persons who would provide suggestions to improve the papers and mentors who would work more closely extending their help and monitor the progress made.
