In this lecture, Prof. Hanne Leth Andersen intends to discuss the notion of employability in the future job market and methods to empower students. The relation between nature andd types of work, exam forms and competencies will be in focus, with special attention to problem-oriented project work, pedagogical innovation and student-centered learning. This leads to a discussion of the degree of specialization versus generic skills. To what degree are universities responsible for job market relevance and employment, in collaboration with external partners? Quality Assurance and formal documentation of relevance in Higher Education might be an impediment to motivating and empowering students. Thus, too much focus on potential employer wishes potentially weakens students’ employability."
