Prof. Rajni Kothari Memorial Lecture Series at School of Development Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Mumbai) is pleased to invite you to Republic Day talk by internationally reputed philosopher and author Prof. Aakash Singh Rathore on “Ambedkar’s Preamble : A Secret History of the Constitution of India”. Prof. Aakash Singh Rathore is author of eight books, and editor of more than a dozen books ranging from political philosophy and law to literature and religion, including B.R. Ambedkar’s The Buddha and His Dhamma: A Critical Edition (Oxford University Press, 2011). Prof Rathore has taught at University of Luiss-Rome, JNU, University of Delhi, and in universities of Pennsylvania, Toronto, Humboldt-Berlin, Toronto among others. The Talk will be moderated by Prof. Ashwani Kumar, Dean, School of Development Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Mumbai).
Prof. Rajni Kothari Memorial Lecture Series has been anchored at Center of Public Policy, Habitat and Human Development since 2016. It is conceptualized and curated by Prof. Ashwani Kumar, Dean, School of Development Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Mumbai). The lecture series includes a set of interactive panel discussions with some of the most celebrated thinkers and scholars in India and abroad.
Prof. Rajni Kothari (August 16, 1928 - January 19, 2015) was a celebrated political scientist, academic-activist, author of the classic “Politics in India” and founder of Centre for the Study of Developing Societies and Lokayan. Rajni Kothari, scholar extraordinaire, preeminent political theorist and a visionary beyond compare, single-handedly revolutionized the study of politics in the country. His intellectual prowess and unwavering activism gave the country lasting institutions and ideals which have inspired countless generations of students and academicians and continue to do so.
The event is organised in collaboration with the SDS Research Scholars Forum (SDSRSF) of School of Development Studies.
