The School of Social Work (#TISSMumbai) is pleased to invite you to an event titled “Social Work and Changing Societies: The Indian Context”. This is part of the M.S. Gore Centenary Celebrations and will be held on 17 June 2022 (offline) and 18 June 2022 (online). The event will cover the following themes: Social Work Practice, Social Work Education, and Social Development & Social Work.
The Keynote Address on "Social Work Education and Practice: Responding the Changing Realities" will be delivered by Prof. Manoj Jha (Delhi School of Social Work and Hon’ble Member of the Rajya Sabha) on 17 June 2022.

About M.S. Gore:
Social work practice and education in India have been influenced by a range of individuals, groups, and institutions. One of these was Prof. M.S. Gore who was one of the first graduates of TISS and later its Director from 1962 to 1982. He epitomised the persona of a multidisciplinary educator, whose academic journey influenced his scholarly contributions, engagement with people, and institution-building initiatives. He constantly pushed to integrate social science perspectives with social work and set very high standards for both professional and personal conduct. This centenary event is dedicated to some of the key concepts and ideas Prof Gore explored and wrote about during his lifetime with respect to social work and social development.
