As part of M.S. Gore Centenary Colloquium, the School of Development Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Mumbai) is pleased to invite you to a talk on “Challenges of Public Health & COVID-19 by Dr. Ashish K. Jha, Dean, School of Public Health, Brown University. The discussants for the talk are Prof. P.K. Shahjahan, Dean, Academic Affairs, TISS and Prof. Shankar Das, Dean, School of Health Systems Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Mumbai).

The welcome address will be delivered by Prof. Shalini Bharat, Director, Tata Institute of Social Sciences. And the panel discussion will be moderated by Prof. Ashwani Kumar, Dean, School of Development Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Mumbai).

The M.S. Gore Colloquium Series is an initiative by Center of Public Policy, Habitat and Human Development, School of Development Studies, to engage with policy research, advocacy and leadership in public service. Beginning in 2013, it is dedicated to the life and pioneering work of Prof. M.S. Gore. The Colloquium Committee is mentored by Prof. Ashwani Kumar, Dean, School of Development Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Mumbai).

Prof. M.S. Gore (August 15, 1921 - November 19, 2010) was a celebrated social scientist, academic, and writer. He was an eminent alumnus and former director of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, former chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University, and former vice-chancellor of Mumbai University. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian honour of the country, for his outstanding contribution to social sciences. His contribution to social work and academia has left a lasting impression on generations of researchers.

The series includes a set of interactive panel discussions with some of the most notable stakeholders in the government and civil policy space. The event is organised in collaboration with the SDS Research Scholars Forum (SDSRSF) and Placement Committee of the School of Development Studies, TISS (Mumbai).
