INTERNATIONAL WEBINAR ON WORLD REFUGEE DAY

Archived

June 20, 2022

In continuation to Webinar Series, You are cordially invited to an event to mark World Refugee Day (20th June), organised jointly by the Global Refugee Health Research Network, The University of Edinburgh; Protracted Crisis Research Centre, the University of the West of Scotland, Centre for Statelessness and Refugee Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences; and the Centre for Migration and Forced Displacement, Makerere University.

World Refugee Day, a UN initiative, provides a global platform to deliberate on the importance of refugees' needs, safety, and human rights as they rebuild their lives. Regardless of the circumstances causing their forced displacement, we must strive to uphold their right to seek asylum, safety during travel and relocation, challenge discrimination and provide humane treatment for all.

The ongoing global refugee crisis has brought more attention to refugees, allowing further reflection on how researchers, policymakers and practitioners can continue to provide safety, dignity, and human rights to refugees. This webinar aims to examine these topics from the perspective of "Responding to Refugees in Complex Emergencies"; thus, highlighting the importance of recognizing that the refugee experience encompasses numerous systemic structures which influence one's short and long-term outcomes.
