Pallabi Chakraborty is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the School of Public Policy and Governance at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Hyderabad. She holds a PhD from the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (2023), a post-graduate degree from Banaras Hindu University (2017) and graduation from Cotton University (2015).
Her research interests lie in development economics, political economy, applied micro-econometrics and game theory. In her doctoral thesis, she examined the role of social networks in the context of credit market. She is the recipient of the institute best PhD Thesis award for 2023, and UGC Junior Research Fellowships in 2016 and 2017. She has been the recipient of several grants to present papers at international conferences.
She has published her doctoral work in reputed journals including Economic Systems and Indian Growth and Development Review. She is passionate about exploring new areas in development economics. Her teaching interests include microeconomics, game theory and econometrics. She has offered courses on Quantitative Reasoning and Statistical Methods and Advanced Quantitative Methods, and is currently offering a course on Impact Evaluation at the institute.
